Legend Cars

Intermediate Division | Sealed engines, equal cars, pure driver skill decides everything.

Legend Cars are some of the most entertaining racing at any short track in the country. These 5/8 scale replicas of classic American hot rods from the 1930s and 1940s are powered by sealed Yamaha motorcycle engines. Every engine makes the same power. Nobody can modify them. The car is never the advantage. The driver is. That levels the playing field and produces incredible wheel-to-wheel racing.

What Are These Cars

A Legend Car is a small, lightweight race car designed to look like a classic hot rod. Under the body is a purpose-built INEX racing chassis. The engine is a sealed Yamaha 1200cc or 1250cc motorcycle engine. Sealed means nobody can open it up or modify it. If the seals are broken, the car is disqualified. Every car on the grid has the same power, so what you see on the track is pure driving talent.

What to Watch For

Three-wide racing through the corners. Legend Cars are small and nimble, and the drivers push them hard because they know the cars can take contact. You will see moves in a Legend Car race that would be impossible in a heavier car.
